New 180-Day Login and Password Change Requirements and User Account Self-Service

Several important changes for RDS Secure Website users are now in effect. Review this announcement for information about new 180-day login and Password change requirements, as well as ways in which you can now control your user account.

180-Day Login and Password Change Requirements

Federal Security Regulations now require that a user log into CMS' RDS Secure Website at least every 180 days to maintain an active account. Active user accounts are required to complete many tasks in the RDS Program, including completing and submitting applications, receiving payments, and completing Reconciliation. CMS' RDS Center will not make payments to a Plan Sponsor if the Authorized Representative or Account Manager has a user account that is not active. Additionally, users are now required to change their Password every 180 days.

User Account Self-Service

RDS Secure Website users now have more control over their user accounts. Users can resolve the following issues using the RDS Secure Website:

  • Enable Your User Account - If your user account becomes disabled due to inactivity, CMS' RDS Center sends an email containing a link allowing you to enable your account.
New Resources for This Process: Refer to Enable Your User Account in the RDS User Guide for more information about maintaining an active account, as well as step-by-step instructions to enable your account, or visit Common Question 500-18.
  • Request Forgotten Login ID - If you have forgotten your RDS Secure Website Login ID, you can request an email be sent to you containing your Login ID.
New Resources for This Process: Refer to Request Forgotten Login ID in the RDS User Guide for step-by-step instructions, or visit Common Question 500-19.
  • Verify Your Email Address - If CMS' RDS Center detects an issue with your email address, you may be prompted to verify it after submitting information on the RDS Secure Website Validate Person Information page or the Login page. This provides you an opportunity to fix your email address if it is invalid.
New Resources for This Process: Refer to Verify Email Address in the RDS User Guide for step-by-step instructions, or visit Common Question 500-20.
