What is the definition of a change in ownership and as the Plan Sponsor, do I need to notify anyone should a change occur?
ANSWER: As part of the Plan Sponsor Agreement and in accordance with 42 C.F.R. §423.892 of Federal regulations, Plan Sponsors are required to provide CMS with notice at least 60 days prior to the anticipated effective date of the Change of Ownership.
Examples of a Change of Ownership include any transfer of assets, merger, name change, or new Employer Identification Number (EIN).
