In April of 2022, CMS’ RDS Center unveiled the new, modernized RDS Secure Website. Wherever possible we redesigned Secure Website pages to combine, remove, and rename steps to make program processes more efficient and intuitive. The next phase of this effort will add new functionality to improve the user experience in the most important RDS processes, such as Reconciliation. Our latest enhancement is a new, automated Reconciliation Reset function in the Secure Website.
As part of Reconciliation, Plan Sponsors must request a Covered Retiree List and agree to the Covered Retiree List provided by CMS' RDS Center. This action occurs in the Reconciliation: Finalize Covered Retirees step.
Despite a Plan Sponsor's best efforts to ensure that the retiree data reflected in the Covered Retiree List is accurate, there may be instances where a Plan Sponsor becomes aware of changes to its Qualifying Covered Retirees after it has completed Reconciliation: Finalize Covered Retirees, but before it has completed Reconciliation: Review & Submit.
Previously, Plan Sponsors in this scenario emailed a support request to CMS’ RDS Center to request that Reconciliation steps be reset so that new retiree data could be submitted. In the new, modernized Secure Website the Account Manager and Authorized Representative will be able to perform Reconciliation Resets themselves on the Finalize Covered Retirees page with just a few clicks. Reconciliation Resets will be processed in minutes rather than hours or days, with no support request or email required, allowing Plan Sponsors more flexibility to complete Reconciliation and meet deadlines. The RDS User Guide and Common Questions have also been updated to support the Reconciliation Reset function. Refer to Reconciliation: Finalize Covered Retirees and CQ 1000-12 for additional information.
If you have questions about the Reconciliation Reset function, please contact CMS’ RDS Center.
