CMS has begun mailing new Medicare cards to people with Medicare. Based on the mailing strategy, your organization may become aware of the Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI) before all beneficiaries are scheduled to get their new Medicare Cards. Your organization should only use the MBI information for system readiness and care coordination purposes as needed.
